不久，汤姆拿着笔记本电脑，来到了调查组的办公室。“Tom, why do you come here?（汤姆，你怎么来了？）”这时，一个FBI成员抬起了头。
“Could you help me figure out what this is and why it always comes out the malware?（帮我看一下这样东西是什么，为什么一直跳出来恶意软件？）”汤姆将笔记本电脑放在了那个FBI成员办公桌上，用鼠标点了开来，很是不解。
“You've been identified by the gang?!（你被黑帮定位了？！）”那个FBI成员仔细一看，忽然看向汤姆，开口道。
“Ah? When did that happen?（啊？什么时候的事？）”汤姆顿时一惊。
“It seems that recently, I’ll use a newly developed program to help you remove it.（看样子是最近，我用新编的程序帮你撤掉。）”说着，那个FBI成员从自己电脑上拔下了一个U盘，插上了汤姆的笔记本电脑，开始操作起来，接着问道，“By the way, Tom, our captain mentioned last time that he wanted to transfer an intern FBI member to the blasting team over here, and do you want to go there?（对了，汤姆，首领上次说要转一个实习爆破组的FBI成员过去，你想吗？）”
“Well... forget it. Doing experiments has already been a real hassle and a headache for me, and let me transfer to the blasting team that such dangerous job, I had better give it up.（我……算了吧，我做起实验来已经够碍手碍脚令人头疼了，要我转去爆破组那么危险的职业我还是算了吧。）”汤姆无奈一笑，接着说道，“Besides that, my dad...（况且，我爸他……）”

“Tom, don't be angry!（汤姆，你别生气呀！）”这时，卢卡斯跑了进来。
“Lucas, don’t follow me wherever I go, go ahead and play with yourself!（卢卡斯，别我上哪你上哪，自己玩去！）”说着，汤姆一推卢卡斯，有些不悦。
“Tom, some accidents are just random happenings, you should not always live under the shadow of loss!（汤姆，有些事故仅仅是意外，你总不可能一直活在失落的阴影里啊！）”卢卡斯开口道。
“What does it mean to be separated by life and death? Do you know , little boy Lucas?!（什么叫生离死别，你个小孩懂吗，卢卡斯！）”只见，汤姆又一次推开了卢卡斯。
“Hey, what's wrong? You guys usually get along so well, did you argue today?（哎，你们怎么了，平时关系那么好，今天吵架了啊？）”那个FBI成员看着他们，有些无奈。
“I don't want, but why does Tom today...（我不想，可是汤姆今天……）”卢卡斯解释起来。
“All right, Lucas, stop peering into others' pasts, I really hate what you have done!（好了，卢卡斯，别再窥视别人的过去，你的自以为是我很讨厌！）”说着，汤姆一抡卢卡斯的头。
“Tom, what's wrong with you today? You know better than anyone whether I've been treating you well or not!（汤姆，你今天怎么了，我对你好不好你比谁都清楚！）”只见，卢卡斯也是一推汤姆，很是不悦。
“OK, stop arguing in the investigation team office, go out, please!（行了，别在调查组办公室吵架，出去！）”这时，另一个FBI成员开口道。
“Tom, don't work with any emotional baggage. I've already removed the malware planted by the gang from your computer, and you can go back.（汤姆，别带着情绪工作，你的电脑我已经删除黑帮安插的软件了，回去吧。）”刚才那个FBI成员推过了汤姆的笔记本电脑。
“OK.（好的。）”说着，汤姆带着笔记本电脑离去，谁料，在经过卢卡斯的时候，又是一推卢卡斯，将他揽到一边喝道，“Go away!（让开！）”
“Hey, Tom, what's wrong?（哎，汤姆，你怎么了！）”卢卡斯不解。
“Little boy, stop chasing Tom, he has some things on his mind.（小弟弟别追了，汤姆有一些心事。）”那个FBI成员开口道。
“What’s wrong?（怎么回事？）”卢卡斯看向了那个FBI成员。
“It is related to his father.（是和他的父亲有关。）”另一个FBI成员接着说道。
“Did he die?（是死了吗？）”卢卡斯问道。
“Yes, little boy Lucas, I think you really don't understand what it means to experience be separated by life and death. To you, it might seem like a minor matter, the FBI just lost one of its members. But for Tom, his father will never return.（对，小弟弟卢卡斯，我觉得你真的不懂什么叫生离死别。或许对你而言是不痛不痒的一件事，FBI只是牺牲了一个成员，但对汤姆而言，他的父亲再也回不来了。）”那个FBI成员开口道。
就这样，那个FBI成员徐徐道来当年的事情，那时候，汤姆的父亲贾斯珀还是FBI爆破组的组长，每一次拆卸炸药的任务他都十分谨慎小心。
那日，贾斯珀又一次和爆破组的成员前往了一个炸药埋藏的地方。
“Jasper, we still need to di**antle another explosive device, but...（贾斯珀，我们还有一个炸药要拆，只是……）”一个FBI爆破组的成员看着检测仪，有些迟疑。
“Where is it? Let me check.（在哪里？我去拆。）”贾斯珀剪断了手上炸药的最后一根电线，一擦汗，起身开口道。
“In the data center warehouse, and the weather is currently very hot, there's a risk of an explosion at any moment.（在数据控制中心的仓库里，现在天气很热，那里随时会引爆。）”那个FBI爆破组的成员说道。
“How much time is left until the explosion?（引爆时间还有多久？）”贾斯珀开口道。
“Time's up in two minutes, Jasper..（两分钟不到了，贾斯珀……）”那个FBI爆破组的成员很是不安。
“Time is running out, I'll go.（时间不多了，我去。）”贾斯珀说道。
“However, climbing the stairs from the location where the explosive is placed will take at least four and a half minutes! And it will probably take some more time before the elevator arrives...（可是那个炸药的地方爬楼梯过去的话，至少要四分半钟！升降梯过来的话大概还要一段时间……）”那个FBI爆破组的成员开口道。
“What?!（什么？！）”听到这儿，贾斯珀顿时一惊，忽然他的目光转向了窗口，于是说道，“Well, I’ll climb up through the drainage pipe!（好，这样吧，我从排水管道那里爬上去！）”
“But Jasper...（可是贾斯珀……）”那个FBI爆破组的成员一愣。
“OK, time is running out, let's just leave it at that.（好了，时间不多了，就这样吧！）”说着，贾斯珀将拆炸药的工具从箱子里倒了出来，装进了一个布袋子绑在腰间，冲向了排水管道，爬了上去。
“Jasper...（贾斯珀……）”那个FBI爆破组的成员再次一愣。
不久，贾斯珀来到了数据控制中心的仓库，开始拆起了炸药！
62秒，61秒，60秒，59秒……时间一分一秒的流逝着，贾斯珀从容镇定，争分夺秒！
“Dad, other blasting team members said you were...（爸，别的爆破组成员说你在……）”就在这时，一个熟悉的声音响起。
“Tom, why are you here?!（汤姆，你怎么在这儿？！）”贾斯珀一惊，忽然看了过去，谁料，汤姆不知为何站在了走廊上，顿时贾斯珀大惊，一挥手喝道，“Go away, Tom!（快离开这里，汤姆！）”
“But dad...（可是爸……）”汤姆开口道。
“Go away!（出去！）”贾斯珀打断了汤姆的话，很是不悦。
“Tom, the data center is very dangerous, come out quickly!（汤姆，数据控制中心这里很危险，快出来！）”这时，几个FBI爆破组的成员用升降梯上来，出现在了窗口，其中一个喊道。
“But my dad was still di**antling the explosive!（可是我爸还在拆炸药！）”汤姆立马开口道。
“Come out, Tom!（出来，汤姆！）”只见，一个FBI爆破组的成员立马揽过了汤姆的身体，抱着拖了出去。
“Let me go, my dad is still inside...（放开我，我爸还在里面……）”汤姆挣扎着，喊道。
33秒，32秒，31秒，30秒……就这样，时间一分一秒的流逝着，汤姆被升降梯带了下去，忽然一阵爆炸声从楼上响起，窗户顿时被击碎，浓烟滚滚！
“Dad——（爸——）”汤姆大喊。
“Jasper——（贾斯珀——）”其余的FBI爆破组的成员喊道。
就这样，汤姆失去了他的父亲……
“Thus, Jasper, the team leader of the blasting team, demonstrated great courage, yet he has forever left us.（就这样，爆破组的贾斯珀组长很英勇，但永远离开了我们。）”回忆至此，那个调查组的FBI成员摸了摸卢卡斯的头，“Little boy Lucas should be considerate of Tom. He doesn't hate you, but your words have hurt his heart.（小弟弟卢卡斯要体谅汤姆，他不讨厌你，但是你的话伤到他的心了。）”
“If someone passes away, just put him in an egg... Oh, no problem at all, I'll go comfort Tom.（死掉的话放入蛋壳不就……哦哦，没什么，我去安慰汤姆。）”卢卡斯忽然反应过来，立马止住了话，也离开了调查组的办公室。
与此同时，汤姆在他的房间内闷闷不乐，笔记本电脑放在一边，自己弓起双腿用手抱着，坐在床上。
“Tom.（汤姆。）”这时，卢卡斯推门进来。
“What are you coming to do?（你来做什么？）”汤姆抬起头，看了过去。
“Tom, I'm sorry, I didn't know that death on Earth meant leaving forever, whereas on Mars, the dead person could be placed in an egg, with their data and consciousness uploaded to be reborn.（汤姆，对不起，我不知道地球上的死亡代表着永远离去，在火星是可以将死者放入蛋壳，上传数据和意识，重新复活的。）”卢卡斯走了过来，开口道。
“So, what does it mean to be separated by life and death on Mars? Can you understand that?!（那在火星什么叫做生离死别，你能懂吗！）”汤姆喝道。
“Tom, I have said sorry, could you please not do like this?（汤姆，我说对不起了，你能不能别这样？）”卢卡斯很是无奈。
“For you, what does 'forever losing' mean, Lucas? Answer me first!（对你而言，什么叫做永远的失去，卢卡斯，先回答我！）”汤姆很是不悦。
“Alright, alright, there was still the fact that someone left forever. If someone's data were lost, it would truly be the end of that person.（好吧好吧，要说永远失去也不是没有发生过，要是一个人的数据丢失了，在火星也真的玩完了。）”卢卡斯解释道。
“Lucas, I'm a human with flesh and blood, and I'm an Earthling. As a Martian, don’t you understand what it means to be bound by blood ties?（卢卡斯，我有血有肉，是地球人，你作为一个火星人，是不是不懂血脉至亲意味着什么？）”汤姆看着卢卡斯问道。
“I have no father or mother, and I was born from an egg...（我无父无母，是蛋壳里出生的啊……）”卢卡斯无奈，接着说道，“Tom, could you see me that I...?（汤姆，你能不能看在我……）”
“Since you're from Mars and don't understand Earthlings, I forgive you and don't hate you. Come here.（看在你是火星人，不懂地球人的份上我原谅你，不讨厌你，过来吧。）”汤姆接过了卢卡斯的话，抱过了卢卡斯。
“Tom, could you don't be angry with me anymore?（汤姆，以后别生我的气好不好？）”卢卡斯很是自责，开口道。
“OK, Lucas, don't talk recklessly either.（好，卢卡斯也别乱讲话。）”汤姆摸了摸卢卡斯的头。
